"Branching Out" Group Quilt

The group is currently working on a group quilt to enter into the upcoming "Branching Out" IPS exhibitions.

We decided to each make an A4-sized piece which we join up together to create our 1st group quilt. The pieces all had to incorporate a blue/green fabric donated by Paula.

At last Sunday's meeting, three of the group have their piece nearly completed. Even using the challenge fabric, the pieces are all totally different in style and overall colour-choice.

Paula is going to sew up the 5 group pieces to complete our quilt in the next few weeks.

Swap Bag 1

At our March meeting, some of us had pieces made from our "Swap Bag no. 1" Challenge. The bag contained a piece of hand-dyed screen-printed fabric, pink fabric paper and a stick-on magnet.
Not all of the Genesis members got their challenges completed on time, some are still finishing their pieces.

Ann is currently finishing up her piece:

Tracy is currently adding hand-quilting to her piece:

Claire made a fabric cuff, brooch and ATC from the bag contents:

Paula made a pink corset with appliqued fabric circles - forgot to take a photo of this one!

Swap Bag

At our last meeting, a swap bag was given out by Claire Lynch to all Genesis members.
The bag contained a small piece of hand-dyed screen-printed fabric, metallic fabric paper (from an Arts & Craft Shop) and a small stick-on magnet. The idea is that everyone will make something using all 3 items.

The finished items are due at the next Genesis meeting - 6th March.

6th February Meeting

Our 1st meeting of the year started off with a bang. We came up with loads of ideas to work on for the rest of the year.

Paula showed her hand-pieced quilt all made with Kaffe Fassett fabrics which is she now hand-quilting:

1st Project:
Swap Bag 1 - Claire supplied the contents of our 1st Swap Bag. Genesis members are to have something made from this bag at the next meeting. Item can be as small or large as you like.

2nd Project:
Branching Out Group Quilt. Quilted pieces will have to be ready for the 6th March meeting, at which we'll add borders and bind the piece for exhibition.

3rd Project:
Branching Out National Exhibition. All Genesis members are working on ideas or projects for the Local and National "Branching Out" Exhibition. Hopefully, we will all have our pieces ready for the April exhibition!

4th Project:
Branching Out Fabric Postcards. All Genesis members to make 2 postcards for this exhibit.
